Introduction to the School of Nationalities

    The School of Nationalities was established in April, 2007, a secondary school integrating scientific research and teaching. Its predecessor, Institute for Nationality Studies, founded in 1984, was the important base of ethnology research in Guangdong province. In 2005, the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council authorized the school to be the only one independent unit for master of nationality studies in our province. In 2006, it is nominated as the key research base on humanities social sciences in Guangdong province. The ethnology research is the traditional discipline in our school. It is leading the way in the research of minority history culture and the language in the South China area. That the Music Department, whose feature is folk music, associates with the resources of the Institute for Ethics is benefit to the development of characteristic disciplines “Nationality Studies”.
