Computer Science school Overview
The school of Computer Sciences has a 28-year history of undergraduate education. It has gone through four periods: Department of Mathematics and Physics (1974), Department of Mathematics (1986), Department of Computer Sciences and Information Management (1993) and Department of Computer Sciences (1996). The school now offers undergraduate courses in Computer Sciences and Technology, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Electronic Commerce, Information and Computing Sciences, Software Engineering. It also offers postsecondary specialized courses in Economic Information Management (Electronic Commerce). There are also adult undergraduate courses in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Computer Sciences and Technology, Electronic Commerce and Accounting (Computer-based), and adult postsecondary specialized courses in Computer Application, Economic Information Management and Electronic Commerce. The School of Software, which is mainly composed of this department, was approved as one of the leading schools of software at the provincial level. There are about 2000 students in the Department now, including about 1500 regular fulltime students (20% of the students of the school are regular undergraduate students, and 80% of the students of the Department are undergraduate students).Bachelor’s degrees in Science or Engineering are awarded to graduates.
